Each week through the regular season, the Austin Sports Journal will poll readers to select the Austin Area High School Volleyball Player of the Week. Voting begins Thursday morning and ends Friday at noon.
The winner will be announced in our e-edition newspaper that publishes on Saturdays beginning Aug. 31 for subscribers, and on social media and online on Sunday.

Nominations are taken from coaches submissions and box scores available on MaxPreps. Coaches are encouraged to send in nominations on Wednesday mornings each week to madams@austinsportsjournal.com. Only nominations for coaches will be accepted.
This week’s nominees are:
- Jennavee Jensen, Vista Ridge: The junior had a double double with 22 kills and 19 digs in a win over Westwood on Friday. In the Rangers next game, Jensen had 12 kills, 8 digs and 7 service aces in a victory over McNeil.
- Jenna Hehman, Vandegrift: The junior had 38 total kills in the Vipers past two matches against Round Rock and Cedar Ridge. She added a combined 10 digs, 2 aces and 3 blocks in both wins.
- Taylor Gaines, Liberty Hill: The senior had a double double with 18 kills, and 12 digs in the Panthers win over Class 4A No. 9 Salado on Tuesday, which was Liberty Hill’s only match in the last week. She added four aces and three blocks.
- Joy Udoye, Cedar Park: The junior had 23 kills and 20 digs in the Timberwolves’ win over 5A No. 4 Georgetown on Tuesday. It was the only match of the last week for Cedar Park.
- Jessee Letts, Glenn: The senior had back-to-back double doubles in the Grizzlies’ two wins this past week. Against St. Michael’s on Friday, Letts had 18 kills and 11 digs, along with 2 aces. On Tuesday in Glenn’s win over East View, she had 16 kills and 15 digs, as well as two aces.
