The 2023-24 Texas high school girls basketball season comes to a close on Tuesday. There will be playoff spots decided in districts 24-5A, 22-4A and 27-2A, while some teams will be playing for district championships or playoff seeding.

One of those teams playing for a district title is Bowie, which travels to Lake Travis Tuesday in the On the Sidelines Sports’ Austin Metro Girls Basketball Game of the Week.

Bowie at Lake Travis (7 p.m., Tuesday)

Who would have thought the biggest Lake Travis fans on Tuesday will be sitting in Chaparral Gymnasium at Westlake High School?

The Lady Cavs, who are locked into the No. 3 seed from District 25-6A for the playoffs, are in a position to help their arch-rival. Should Lake Travis beat Bowie Tuesday night at home, Westlake would win the district title outright with a win over Buda Johnson.

See, Bowie made things in District 26-6A a little interesting on Friday by upsetting the Lady Chaps. The Lady Dawgs can force a co-district championship with Westlake with a win over Lake Travis and a Westlake win over Johnson. That potentially means that Bowie could win the No. 1 seed and play Round Rock in the first round of the playoffs, which would force Westlake to face the loser of Vandegrift-Cedar Ridge.

Cedar Ridge at Vandegrift (7 p.m., Tuesday) – The winner will get the No. 2 seed and play Lake Travis in the bi-district playoffs. The loser will be the No. 3 seed and play either Westlake or Bowie in the bi-district playoffs.

Liberty Hill at Glenn (7 p.m., Tuesday) – With the District 25-5A championship on the line and a full gymnasium at Glenn High School, Liberty Hill-Glenn II is sure to not disappoint. Glenn has already clinched a share of the district title but can claim it outright with a win over the Lady Panthers. Liberty Hill can force a co-district title and the need for a tiebreaker to determine the No. 1 seed.

McCallum at Ann Richards (8 p.m., Tuesday) – McCallum will win the District 24-5A championship outright with a win over Ann Richards, which is playing for its playoff lives. If McCallum wins, the Stars will likely be pushed into a tie with Crockett for the final playoff spot, should the Lady Cougars defeat Northeast in the regular season finale. If Ann Richards beats McCallum, the Stars are in the playoffs and McCallum will share the district title with Navarro, but still get the No. 1 seed from the district due to the Lady Knights sweeping the Lady Vikings in the regular season.

Caldwell at Giddings (7 p.m., Tuesday) – Giddings will make things really easy in District 22-4A with a win over Caldwell. A victory will send the Lady Buffaloes and Smithville to the playoffs and clinch the No. 3 seed for Giddings. However, if Caldwell wins, there will be a three-way tie for the final two playoff spots from the district should Taylor beat Smithville. If the Lady Tigers upsets the Lady Ducks at home on Tuesday, and Caldwell beats Giddings, Smithville and Caldwell will make the playoffs. 

Milano at Thrall, (6 p.m., Tuesday) – With a win, Thrall will finish with an undefeated record in District 27-2A and claim the district title outright. Milano can clinch a share with a win over the Tigerettes and force a tiebreaker for the No. 1 seed from the district.
