Area high school boys basketball teams enter the final full week of the 2023-24 regular season. Playoff tickets will be claimed all over the Greater Austin metro area and, in some cases, district titles will be decided.

Our game of the week will be on Friday, but it will be determined after Tuesday’s games are finished. We will announce the On the Sidelines Sports Austin Metro Boys Basketball Game of the Week on Wednesday morning. 

In the meantime, here are five pivotal boys basketball games on Tuesday:

5 games to watch on Tuesday

Glenn at Liberty Hill (7 p.m., Tuesday) – Liberty Hill is tied with Leander for fourth place in District 25-5A. Glenn is tied with Cedar Park for second place. Two-game separate second place and fourth place, so this game will likely have playoff implications for Liberty Hill.

Vandegrift at Cedar Ridge (7 p.m., Tuesday) – Two games separate five teams battling for three playoff spots. Vandegrift and Cedar Ridge are two of those teams. Keep an eye on Manor-Vista Ridge. If the Mustangs and Vipers win on Tuesday, it will make this playoff race much simpler.

Westlake at Buda Johnson (7 p.m., Tuesday) – Johnson snuck out of Westlake with a win during the last meeting between the two teams. Both teams are still in the district title race, and the winner will stay in the hunt.

Georgetown at Cedar Creek (7 p.m., Tuesday) – Georgetown will claim a share of the district title with a win over Cedar Creek, which has a two-game lead over East View for the final playoff ticket out of the district. The Eagles can afford to lose, but will need Hendrickson to beat East View.

East View at Hendrickson (7 p.m., Tuesday) – The Patriots are two games behind Cedar Creek for fourth place. East View cannot afford a loss to Hendrickson. Should the Patriots lose on Tuesday, it would need to win both of its final games – including Friday’s rivalry game with Georgetown – and hope Cedar Creek losses to both last-place Bastrop and 7^th-place Pflugerville in its final two games.
