Byron Nelson was named the MaxPreps national champion, while Bobcats’ junior setter Sophee Peterson earned the MaxPreps National Player of the Year honor

The Texas A&M commit guided Byron Nelson to a perfect 42-0 season and a second straight UIL Class 6A Division I state championship.

Peterson headlines the unveiling of the 2025 MaxPreps All-America Team, a 60-player national roster featuring the top hitters, middles, setters and liberos in the country.

Peterson posted 1,459 assists, 161 kills and 27 digs this season and now owns 3,660 career assists with one season still remaining. She was one of three Byron Nelson players named All-Americans, joining outside hitters Kylie Kleckner and Ashlyn Seay on the first team as part of the Bobcats’ dominant championship run.

Two Austin-area standouts were also recognized.

Lake Travis junior Gentry Barker earned first-team honors after surpassing 1,500 career kills while posting 572 kills for the Cavaliers.

On the second team, Dripping Springs senior Henley Anderson, a Texas commit and AVCA All-American, continued her postseason sweep of honors after another dominant year for the Tigers.

The MaxPreps All-America selections recognize players for both individual excellence and team success, with many honorees playing key roles in deep playoff runs and state championship campaigns.
