The seventh week of the Texas high school football season is in the books, and playoff races are heating up across South Central Texas. There was some shakeup in our Class 6A and 5A rankings.
Dripping Springs dropped to No. 4 after losing to Lake Travis. The Tigers were leapfrogged by Westlake and Hutto. No. 1 Lake Travis will take on our No. 2 6A Team Westlake this week at Chaparral Stadium, while No. 3 Hutto hosts Vandegrift in a game that could solidify the Hippos’ district title hopes.
In Class 5A, Comal Pieper upset No. 1 New Braunfels last week. The Unicorns dropped to No. 5 as defending 5A-Division I champion Smithson Valley takes over the top spot in our Class5A top five. The Rangers host New Braunfels this week. Could the Unicorns cause anotehr shakeup with an upset, or will they fall out of the rankings?
Another big matchup this week is in 4A as No. 2 Salado travels to No. 3 Jarrell for a key 13-4A-II matchup.
