Salado’s Lincoln Hossfeld voted the Austin Sports Journal Football Player of the Week for Week 3

Salado quarterback Lincoln Hossfeld is this week’s Austin Sports Journal Austin-Area Football Player of the Week for Week 3.

Hossfeld won the honor voted on by readers with 45.6% of the vote. He edged out Bowie’s Cruz Tello by 217 votes. The Bulldogs’ senior quarterback received 29.1% of the vote, edging out Kael Hatnot of Buda Johnson for second place. Hatnot received 21.6% of the vote. Other candidates included Pflugerville quarterback Cole Taylor and LBJ quarterback Ali Scott.

Hossfield, a senior, accounted for 393 yards of total offense and six touchdowns in the Eagles’ win over Giddings. He threw for 304 yards, completing 17 of 21 pass attempts without an interception. He was also selected as the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football’s Class 4A QB of the Week.

The Austin Sports Journal conducts votes each week for the football and volleyball players of the week throughout the season.

Voting for the Football Player of the Week opens every Monday morning and closes at noon on Tuesdays. The winner will be announced on Tuesday evenings.
