Vote for the Austin Sports Journal Football Player of the Week for Week 2

Each week through the regular season, the Austin Sports Journal will poll readers to select the Austin Area High School Player of the Week. Voting will begin Monday morning and end Tuesday at 12 p.m. The winner will be announced on Tuesday.

Nominations will be taken from coaches stats submissions and box scores available on MaxPreps. Coaches are encouraged to send in nominations on Sunday mornings each week to madams@austinsportsjournal.com. Only nominations for coaches will be accepted.

This week’s nominees are:

  • Ed Small, Anderson: The senior wide receiver had four catches for 141 yards and two touchdowns in the Trojans’ win over Elgin.
  • Trae Hill, Cedar Park: The junior running back scored five total touchdowns, while rushing for 131 yards on 37 carries and running in four rushing touchdowns. Hill also had had 60 receiving yards and one receving touchdown in the Timberwolves’ win over Vandegrift.
  • Kyle May, Liberty Hill: The senior running back rushed for 142 yards on 23 carries and scored 4 touchdowns in the Panthers’ win over Rouse.
  • Kael Hatnot, Buda Johnson: The senior running back rushed for 140 yards on 19 carries and scored two touchdowns in the Jaguars’ win over Stony Point.
  • Zane Wooldridge, Leander: The senior wide receiver had 161 yards on 9 catches with a touchdown in the Lions’ win over Hendrickson.
