Glenn's MC Brandl voted as Austin Sports Journal's Volleyball Player of the Week

Glenn outside hitter MC Brandl was voted the Austin Sports Journal Austin-area Volleyball Player of the Week for Aug. 26-31.

With 46.5% of the vote, Brandl edged out Stony Point’s Addison Deba (23.3%) for the honor. Joy Udoye of Cedar Park finished third in voting with 18.5% of the vote. Westlake’s Chloe Kelly (6.7%) and Georgetown’s Addison Gaido (4.9%) were also nominees.

Brandl had 17 kills, three aces and 20 digs in the Grizzlies win over Bowie on Tuesday. Glenn has been one of the surprises of the 2024 season, and Brandl has been a big part of that success.

The Austin Sports Journal will hold votes each week for the football and volleyball players of the week throughout the season.

Voting for the Football Player of the Week will open every Monday and close at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, starting September 3. The winner will be announced on Thursdays.
