SAN ANTONIO – Legendary Austin area coach Lee Bridges built his coaching career of turning schools into winners.
Bridges was inducted on Saturday into the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Hall of Honor at its annual banquet at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in San Antonio.
After attending the University of Texas, Bridges began his coaching career at Reagan (Northeast) High School in Austin. His coaching career also included a stop at Austin High Schoo where he turned the Maroons into a playoff regular.
His coaching career also included stops at Killeen and San Antonio, where he coached at Taft and Stevens high schools before returning to the Austin area to become the athletic director for Leander Independent School District, a position he held until he retired in 2015.
