There’s a new No. 1 team in Class 5A.

Leander started the season winning 13 in a row with some impressive Ws to the Lady Lions resume, including the current No. 1 and No. 2 teams in our area Class 6A rankings and the new No. 1 in our class 5A rankings.

However, Leander has struggled through District 25-5A. Hays completed a season sweep of Leander on Tuesday with a 10-4 win. The Lady Lions are 4-2 in their last six games.

Georgetown, which is on a 12-game winning streak, takes over the top spot. The Lady Eagles hold a two-game lead in District 23-5A with five games left to play.
