The 2025 Texas high school football season has came to an end, which means it’s time for the coaching carousel to pick up speed over the next few months.

Keep up with high school football coaching changes around the Austin-San Antonio area with the Austin Sports Journal.

The biggest news, so far, is that long-time Stony Point head coach Craig Chessher announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2025 season. He will stay on as head coach and boys athletic coordinator until June.

Chessher’s coaching career spans over 42 years with stops at Galena Park North Shore and Stony Point, which is where he spent 22 years. He led the Tigers to three state semifinal appearances (2008-10) with an overall record of 124-114.

Comal Pieper will be looking for its second head coach in school history. Nick Rodgers stepped down after coaching the Warriors for the last five seasons, leading them to a regional final appearance in 2023. In four varsity seasons he had a 33-16 record.
