SAN ANTONIO — Paradise (38-2) made the final plays when it mattered most, edging Palestine Westwood 52-51 in a dramatic finish to capture the UIL Class 3A Division II state championship Friday afternoon at the Alamodome.
Westwood appeared to be in control for most of the game, holding the lead for more than 31 minutes and building a nine-point advantage in the second quarter. But Paradise chipped away in the second half and finally took the lead in the closing seconds to secure the title.
Max Jordan delivered the performance of the day for Paradise, pouring in 29 points on 14-of-21 shooting to earn game most valuable player honors.
Cooper Jones added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Panthers, while Creek Gibson finished with five assists.
Palestine Westwood (30-3) was led by Kavian Bryant, who scored 26 points, including five three-pointers, while Sebastian Lathan grabbed 15 rebounds.

Dallas Madison pulls away from Orangefield for Class 3A Division II crown
Dallas Madison used a strong second-half surge to defeat Orangefield 70-59 in the UIL Class 3A Division I state championship.
The Trojans (26-12) took control in the third quarter and never looked back, leading for more than 27 minutes and building a lead as large as 19 points.
Josiah Cobb led Madison with 20 points and six assists to earn game MVP honors. Aiden Durr added 15 points and nine rebounds while Demondre Jones recorded 10 points and nine boards.
Orangefield (35-4) was led by Carson Willis, who scored 21 points.

Dallas Kimball cruises past Fort Bend Crawford for Class 4A Division II title
Dallas Kimball pulled away early and rolled to a 62-42 victory over Fort Bend Crawford in the Class 4A Division I state championship.
Kimball (24-11) built a double-digit lead in the first quarter and extended it throughout the game, eventually stretching the margin to 26 points.
Jaylin Hancock earned game MVP honors after scoring 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Rylan Austin added 13 points and David Coe chipped in 10.
Alvin Mosley led Fort Bend Crawford (32-7) with nine points.

Dallas Carter dominates La Marque for Class 4A Division I championship
Dallas Carter (32-6) delivered one of the most decisive performances of the day, defeating La Marque 67-41 in the Class 4A Division II state championship.
Carter took control in the second quarter with a 24-point burst and pushed the lead to as many as 35 points during the third quarter.
Amarion Hunter recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds to earn game most valuable player honors. Kaiden Eason added 12 points while Terrell Jackson finished with nine.
Malcolm McNair led La Marque (42-2) with 14 points.
