The 2026 Texas high school girls soccer regular season ends this week with most districts concluding play on Tuesday, while some will play their final matches on Friday. The playoffs begin on March 19.
Playoff outlook
There are 30 area teams that have secured playoff spots heading into the final week, with six spots left to be decided.
In District 25-6A, Hutto Cedar Ridge and Vista Ridge are separated by three points. Cedar Ridge holds the advantage with 22 points and plays their finale on Friday against Manor, a game the Raiders should win. However, Hutto can overtake the fourth spot with wins its final two games against Vista Ridge and McNeil.
The Lady Rangers have the toughest path needing wins over the Lady Hippos and third-place Westwood and a Hutto loss to McNeil to get into the fourth spot.
In District 23-5A, East View and Pflugerville are tied for fourth place at 15 points. The Patriots play first-place Hendrickson while the Panthers play second place Georgetown. The outcome of this playoff race will impact Georgetown, which will go into Division II if East View is the fourth playoff team or Division I if Pflugerville gets in.
Rouse and Hays are in the chase for the fourth playoff spot in 25-5A. Rouse holds a three-point advantage and is in with a win over Lockhart today or a Hays loss to Lehaman.
Three teams are in the hunt for two playoff spots in District 26-5A. New Braunfels has the clear advantage and is in with a win over Alamo Heights, which would also secure Boerne a playoff spot as the fourth place team. If Mules beat the Unicorns they would leap frog Boerne for the fourth spot if the Greyhounds lose to second place Comal Pieper.
Week 8 rankings
Salado has taken over the top spot in Class 4A. Canyon Lake handed Wimberley its first District 26-4A loss on March 3 in a 3-1 decision. The Lady Hawks and Lady Texans split their regular season series, with a potential regional final showdown on the horizon being a strong possibility.
Lake Travis, Westlake and Austin High continued their game of musical chairs in Class 6A. The Lady Cavaliers beat Westlake last week after falling out of the top five last week. Meanwhile, nothing changed in Class 5A, which is the area’s strongest classification.
We’ll take another look at the rankings after the playoffs, but for now, here are our final area rankings for girls soccer:
