With the 2025-26 Texas high school boys basketball regular season entering its final stretch, the Class 5A playoff picture across the Austin–San Antonio metroplex is beginning to take shape.
Most teams have between four and five district games remaining, and every game counts with races tightening and playoff spots on the line.
Here’s the playoff picture across the area:
District 23-5A
Hendrickson has already clinched a playoff spot and sits atop the district at 9-0, riding a 17-game winning streak. The Hawks are in firm control of the district race and appear ready for a deep playoff run.
East View and Weiss are tied at 5-3 and are close to solidifying their playoff fate, while the hunt for fourth place is down to three teams. Pflugerville (5-4) remains very much in the mix, while Elgin and Georgetown are still mathematically alive but running out of room for error. Connally has been eliminated from postseason contention.
Outlook: If the standings hold, East View and Hendrickson would be the Division I representatives, while Weiss and Pflugerville would land in Division II. With Pflugerville still battling to secure a top-four finish, the Division II picture remains fluid as Elgin and Georgetown would be in the Division II if they emerge as the fourth playoff team.
District 24-5A
Anderson has clinched a playoff berth and remains unbeaten in district play at 8-0, continuing to separate itself from the field. McCallum (6-2) and Bastrop (6-3) are firmly in playoff position and need just a win in their final four games or a Cedar Creek or LASA loss, while the race for the fourth spot remains unsettled.
Cedar Creek and LASA are tied at 3-5 and the final playoff spot will come down to one to those two teams. Crockett and Navarro need a lot of help to get into the conversation.
Outlook: If the current top four teams advance, Anderson and Cedar Creek would be the Division I teams, while McCallum and Bastrop would compete in Division II. With Cedar Creek still fighting to lock down the final playoff spot, the Division I and II split could still change if LASA makes it, sending McCallum to Division I.
District 25-5A
Glenn has clinched a playoff spot and sits alone atop the district at 10-0, extending its winning streak to nine games. Cedar Park and Liberty Hill are tied at 7-3 and appear well positioned for postseason berths as the district race with four games to go, but are only a half-game ahead of Leander and one game ahead of Rouse.
The Lions (6-3) are one of the hotest teams down the stretch, riding a four game winning streak. The Raiders (5-4) sit on the bubble with five games left on the shedule. It’s going to be a tight race for the final three playoff spots.
Outlook: With so much uncertainty, Division placement is yet to be determined. Glenn is assured to be in Division I. Whoever emerges between Leander and Rouse will be the other Division I representative, while Cedar Park and Liberty Hill will be in Division II.
District 26-5A
Veterans Memorial has clinched a playoff spot and leads the district at 11-2, setting the pace in a deep and competitive league. New Braunfels (9-4) and Boerne Champion (8-4) are in strong playoff position, while Alamo Heights (7-5) remains in control of the fourth spot for now. Kerrville Tivy and Comal Pieper remain within striking distance, but the door is closing quickly.
Outlook: If the top four teams hold their positions, New Braunfels and Boerne Champion would be the Division I representatives, while Veterans Memorial and Alamo Heights would compete in Division II. Tivy or Pieper would be in Division II if one of those schools edge out the Mules.
