Anderson wasted no time taking control Tuesday night.

The Trojans opened with an 11-0 run and never looked back, handing LASA its first District 25-5A loss with a 61-48 win at Anderson High School in Austin.

Sophomore Lucy Swanson led the way with 24 points, including a blistering start from deep range. Swanson’s first 15 points came on 3-pointers as Anderson built an early cushion and kept LASA playing catch-up for most of the night.

Tehila Alabi added 18 points for the Trojans, who improved to 11-8 overall and 6-2 in district play. Anderson led 21-14 after the first quarter and carried a 34-25 advantage into halftime.

LASA star Kyndall Johnson did everything she could to keep the Raptors within striking distance, scoring 34 of the team’s 48 points. Johnson scored all but two of LASA’s points in the first half, but Anderson’s defensive pressure and balanced scoring proved too much to overcome.

Anderson maintained its lead through the third quarter and closed strong in the fourth, outscoring LASA 16-12 over the final eight minutes to secure the win.

With the loss, LASA drops to 17-11 overall and 7-1 in District 25-5A, pulling the Raptors into a tie for first place with Crockett. LASA defeated Crockett on Friday, but the district race tightened Tuesday as Anderson moved within one game of the lead and into third place.
