In her four years as a part of Texas State’s volleyball team, senior Jade Defraeye’s family has never seen her play in a Texas State uniform. That changed this weekend.
In what has turned into a viral video, Defraeye’s family traveled from her home country France and surprised her prior to the Bobcats’ home match Friday against Coastal Carolina.
“Personally, it’s awesome, and I think, you know, I’m glad she had the weekend that she did.” said Texas State head coach Sean Huiet. “You know, she blocked 18 balls on the weekend and had a really good offensive weekend, but it’s awesome. Like, that was one of the reasons we went on our foreign trip so we could try to meet her family and and get that experience. … She had zero clue that they were here. And so she is so excited. They’re going to the Spurs game tonight. They’re going to Austin tomorrow. So Jade’s just so freaking excited. They’re so excited. “
