The top four teams in each district make the playoffs in Class 3A and 2A, while only the top three make it in Class 1A. The playoffs begin on Oct. 30, with the two schools with the largest enrollments placed in the Division I bracket and the other two in the Division II bracket in 3A and 2A. Class 1A only has one division.

The UIL state volleyball championships are scheduled for Nov. 20-22 at the Curtis Calwell Center in Garland.

Here is a breakdown for each district:

District 5-3A (Region I)

Front-runners: Ingram Moore (5โ€“0) is undefeated and in control. Comfort (4โ€“1) is solid in second.

Playoff chase: Blanco (3โ€“2) is in good shape for third. Llano (2โ€“3) currently holds the fourth spot.

On the bubble: Florence (1โ€“4) needs to catch Llano for the last berth.

Eliminated: Brady (0โ€“5).

Bottom line: Ingram Moore, Comfort and Blanco are nearly safe. The fourth playoff spot will be the one to keep an eye on. Llano should come out on top, since the Yellowjackets won its first meeting with Florence.

Divisional breakdown: Llano is the wildcard. If the Yellowjackets make the playoffs, they will be in the Division I bracket with Ingram Moore. However, if Florence sneaks in, Comfort will be in Division I with Ingram Moore, while Florence and Blanco will be in Division II.

District 19-3A (Region III)

Front-runners: Lexington (8โ€“0) and Franklin (7โ€“1) have both clinched playoff berths.

Playoff chase: Thrall (3โ€“5) and Little River Academy (2โ€“2) currently hold the last two playoff spots.

On the bubble: Rockdale (2โ€“5) and Cameron Yoe (1โ€“5) need strong finishes. Rogers (0โ€“5) is close to elimination.

Bottom line: Lexington and Franklin are in. Thrall and Little River Academy are in position, but the last two spots remain open to a challenge from Rockdale. Lexington is going to be a dangerous playoff team in Region III. The Eagles beat state-powerhouse Franklin in the first round and the second match between the two will be at Lexington.

Divisional breakdown: Lexington and Thrall will be Division II representatives, regardless of who the other two playoff teams are.

District 26-2A (Region IV)

Front-runners: Granger (6โ€“0) is unbeaten and essentially clinched with four games to go.

Playoff chase: Records are incomplete on MaxPreps, so itโ€™s difficult to know whoโ€™s in the chase and who isnโ€™t.

Bottom line: Granger is safe and will likely clinch a playoff spot with a win on Friday.

Divisional breakdown: Thorndale is the largest school in the district, so if the Bulldogs make the playoffs they will be in the Division I bracket. Granger is the third largest school in the district, so itโ€™s possible the Lions will be in Division I if Holland doesnโ€™t make the playoffs. If Holland does, then Granger will be Division II.

District 29-2A (Region IV)

Front-runners: Johnson City (4โ€“0) is unbeaten and nearly clinched a spot.

Playoff chase: Sonora (2โ€“2) and Harper (2โ€“2) are in good position for the next two spots.

On the bubble: Center Point (1โ€“3) and Junction (1โ€“3) are tied for the last berth.

Bottom line: This is a five team district that plays eight games. Johnson City is the heavy favorite as the Eagles look to be playoff ready. The battle is for the remaining three spots.

Divisional breakdown: Johnson City is the largest school in 29-2A and will be in Division I. Harper will likely be the other Division I representative from the district.

District 28-1A

This district just began league play. Three of the four teams will make the playoffs with the district champion getting a first-round bye. There are no divisions in Class 1A. The district title race typically comes down to Fayetteville (1โ€“0) and Round Top-Carmine (1โ€“0). Which are almost locks for the postseason.
