The Austin Sports Journal’s Week 6 helmet stickers and Friday night stars of the week

District races are heating up around South Central Texas as we’ve now played through six weeks of the Texas high school football season. Here are this week’s Austin Sprots Journal Friday Night Stars of the Week and helmet sticker recipients. 

Friday Night Star of the Week  

Cormyc Guerro, East View, QB 

The senior quarterback had 474 yards and scored five touchdowns in the Patriots’ win over Lake Belton. He rushed for 183 yards on 10 carries (18.3 ypc) and threw for 291 yards, completing 17 out of 27 pass attempts without an interception. 

Small Town Friday Night Star of the Week  

Christian Salazar, Manor New Tech, QB 

Christian Salazar, Manor New Tech: The junior quarterback threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns in the Titans’ win over Austin Eastside, completing 19 of 25 pass attempts with one interception. 

Helmet stickers

Kaleb McDougle, Georgetown: The junior quarterback threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns in the Eagles’ win over Killeen Chaparral, completing 15 of 20 pass attempts with one interception.  

Hunter Frenette, Hutto: The junior defensive back had 15 tackles, one sack and one interception in the Hippos’ win over Westwood.  

Chase Ames, Dripping Springs: The junior quarterback threw for 393 yards and six touchdowns in the Tigers’ win over Austin High, completing 16 of 21 pass attempts without an interception.  

James Montgomery, Dripping Springs: The senior wide receiver had four catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns in the Tigers’ win over Austin High.  

Caleb Crenshaw, Anderson: The senior running back rushed for 217 yards on 14 carries (15.5 ypc) and scored two touchdowns in the Trojans’ win over Lehman.  

Cove Darbyshire, Anderson: The junior quarterback threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns, completing 12 of 14 pass attempts without an interception, in the Trojans’ win over Lehman.  

Rhys Moreno, Bowie: The junior running back rushed for 172 yards on 17 carries (10.1 ypc) and scored four touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ win over Del Valle.  

Javarlyn Smith, Austin LBJ: The senior wide receiver had five catches for 120 yards and four touchdowns in the Jaguars’ win over Travis.  

David Cooper, Cedar Park: The junior quarterback threw for 177 yards and rushed for 104, scoring three total touchdowns in the Timberwolves’ win over Rouse. He completed 16 of 20 passing attempts without an interception.  

Gabriel Peach, Hays: The junior running back had 187 total yards and scored three touchdowns in the Hawks’ win over Lockhart. Peach rushed for 12 yards (7.8 ypc) and caught three passes for 62 yards.  

Josiah Coronado, Burnet: The senior running back rushed for 184 yards on 18 carries (10.2 ypc) and scored three touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ win over San Angelo Lake View.  

McNeil: The Mavericks receive a helmet sticker as a team for defeating Vandegrift for the first time in school history.  

Dylan Snoga, Cedar Ridge: The junior quarterback threw for 344 yards and three touchdowns in the Raiders’ win over Stony Point, completing 16 of 26 pass attempts with one interception.  

Jaxon Schad, Weiss: The sophomore quarterback threw for 322 yards and five touchdowns in the Wolves’ win over Cedar Creek, completing 18 of 20 pass attempts without an interception.
