The fifth week of the Texas high school football season is in the books and there were a few surprises around the area.

Surprise of the week: Anderson. The Trojans scored the biggest win of the season Friday with a 42-40 win over A&M Consolidated in five overtimes. Not only that, but Anderson is also now in the driver’s seat in the district 12-5A championship race.

Team of the week: Westwood. The Warriors put together an offensive barrage Friday against Manor with a 49-14 win to move to 2-3. Wade Allen had a monster game out of the backfield with 293 yards on 18 carries and four touchdowns.

Keep an eye on: Cedar Park. The Timberwolves manhandled Killeen Chaparral last week 57-14 in the district opener. Cedar Park plays Rouse on Thursday with a chance to stay on track to challenge Georgetown for the District championship.
