The third week of the Texas high school football season is in the books and there were a few surprises around the area. And it wasn’t the losses; it was the margin of victories in those losses.
Surprise of the week: Davenport. The Wolves stunned many across the Austin-San Antonio region with a statement win over Comal Pieper, showing they’re ahead of schedule as a rising program.
Team of the week: Hendrickson. The Hawks erased a 24-point deficit to shock Hays 42–41 in the district opener. Behind explosive plays from Romelo Boykin and London Clark, Hendrickson showed resilience in a wild victory.
Keep an eye on: Hutto. The Hippos’ offense is humming after a 63-point outburst against Cedar Ridge. With quarterback Kaden Stefek and a deep group of playmakers, Hutto looks primed to be a dangerous district contender.
