It’s championship week for the 2024-25 Texas high school softball season, culminating with the state championship games at the University of Texas’ Red & Charline McCombs Field in Austin.

Championship bloodline: Lexington’s Taylor Akin aims to win state title on the field her grandfather won two
Taylor Akin, granddaughter of former La Grange coach Arthur Behrend, leads Lexington into the UIL Class 3A Division II softball state final. With a 21-4 record and 214 strikeouts, Akin hopes to bring home the title—just like her grandfather did in 2014 and 2016.
