Cedar Park & Austin High advance to LAX state championships

Cedar Park and Westwood were the two representatives in the Texas Girls High School Lacrosse League state tournament Saturday at St. Andrew’s Upper School in Austin.

Cedar Park won its Division III semifinal against Bridge 10-8 and moves on to Sunday’s championship game against San Antonio Alamo Heights. The game is schedule to start at 9 a.m. at St. Andrew’s football stadium.

Westwood fell to Lucas Lovejoy 12-11 in a Division II semifinal. The Warriors trailed 4-1 after the first quarter and took the lead in the second, before Lovejoy tied it 6-6 at end of the second quarter. Lovejoy moves on to play Highland Park in Sunday’s championship, scheduled for 11 a.m.

In the boys tournament in Dallas, Austin High defeated TMI Episcopal 11-8 to advance to Sunday’s Class A championship game against St. Mark’s. Face off is set for 2 p.m. at Highlander Stadium.

In a Class C semifinal, George Ranch defeated Hyde Park 7-4 to advance to Sunday’s championship, scheduled for 10 a.m. at Highlander Stadium.
