From staff reports

The Battle of the Lakes rivalry will take to the golf course this week at the 2025 UIL golf state championships.

Westlake and Lake Travis are heavy favorites in the Class 6A tournament, which is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at White Wing Golf Club in Sun City.

The Chaparrals and Cavaliers are two of the more decorated golf programs in Texas.

Westaleke is making its 34th appearance at the boys golf state tournament, which is the most of any school in any classification. The Chaps’ 13 state championships only trails Highland Park’s 22 as the most in the state. Westlake last won a state championship in 2023, which was the last of six consecutive state titles.

Lake Travis is making its 21st appearance at the state tournament. The Cavs are the defending Class 6A state championships and have won five state titles total.

Other area teams competing for state championships include, Smithson Valley (5A), Davenport and Fredericksburg (4A) and Blanco (3A).

The Rangers are making their fourth appearance and third in Class 5A. Smithson Valley won the school’s first golf state title last year and are the defending 5A champions.

Davenport is making its first appearance in the state tournament, while Fredericksburg is making its 13th. The Battlin’ Billies won their last state championship in 2012.

Blanco is making its eighth appearance, but first in Class 3A. The Panthers are still seeking their first golf state championship.
