GEORGETOWN – For a moment, the Davenport Wolves toyed with history.

In the end, however; state powerhouse Celina showed why they could go down in history as arguably the greatest team in Texas high school girls soccer history.

The Bobcats (28-1) came back from a 1-0 first half deficit to defeat Davenport 2-1 Thursday at Birkelbach Stadium in Georgetown to claim their fourth straight UIL girls soccer state championship.

The Wolves (21-3-1) proved to be a worth opponent behind the stellar play of goalkeeper Isabel Templeman, who fished the Class 4A Division I state final with 18 saves. The junior nearly blocked everything Celina threw at her, including 10 of the Bobcats’ 13 shots in the first half.

Meanwhile, senior Rylee Reisdorph led an offensive attack in the first half and scored Davenport’s only goal of the game at in the 31st minute to give the Wolves an early 1-0 lead. Fellow senior Logan Strong had the assist on Reisdorph’s goal.

Davenport held onto that lead until 15 minutes into the second half when Celina’s Grace Pritchard took a pass from Ryleigh Stifflemire and found the back of the net to tie the game.

Ten minutes later, Stifflemire put the final dagger in the Wolves on an unassisted goal that proved to be the game winner.

“I’m so very proud of these girls, you know Celina is an amazing team, they aren’t four-time state champion by accident,” said Davenport head coach Tristan Richards. “They made us work our tails off, but I’m proud of the effort your girls and our keeper played lights out To say she had an incredible game doesn’t cover it.
