The Lake Travis girls soccer team is headed back to the state semifinals for the first time since 2019.

Juniors Amelia Clark and Breckyn Ferrell powered the Cavaliers (20-1-1) to a 4-2 victory over Round Rock Tuesday in the Region IV championship of the UIL Class 6A Division I girls soccer playoffs.

Clark, a UTSA pledge, put together a hat trick that included a beauty where she put the ball just under the cross bar to put the cherry on top of the win. Jaz Diaz added the fourth goal for Lake Travis.

Ferrell played Tuesday game with the flu, reminisce of Michael Jordan’s Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz nearly 30 years ago. She said afterwards, “I wasn’t going to miss it.”

Round Rock (22-2-2) put up a fight and took an early 1-0 lead from a goal by Alexis Montgomery.

That was the last goal before Clark and Diaz gave the Cavaliers a 3-1 lead through 60 minutes of action.

The Lady Dragons cut Lake Travis’ lead to one with about 10 minutes left in the game, but Clark called game with her final goal of the match.

The Cavaliers advance to this weekend’s Class 6A Division I state semifinals and will face Katy Seven Lakes (18-4-2). Game time, day and location has yet to be determined.

Should Lake Travis beat Seven Lakes, it would mark the first state finals appearance for the Cavaliers since 2003.
