There’s something to be said about a first-year quarterback that leads his team to a state championship. Not to mention, the school’s first football state championship.
That’s the legacy Miles Teodecki has made in his young career at Vandegrift. And for that, Teodecki is the Austin Sports Journal’s 2024 Mr. Austin Football award winner, given to the overall player of he year in the Greater Austin Area.

Teodecki helped the Vipers to a 24-17 victory over the storied Southlake Carroll Dragons in the Class 6A Division II state championship game. He threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns en route to being named the game’s offensive most valuable player.
A prolific passer, Teodecki threw for 3,251 yards with a 69% completion percentage and a 136.1 QB rating. He completed 47 touchdown passes with only seven interceptions in 290 passing attempts.
He helped the Vipers to a 15-1 overall record and their sixth straight district championship. Teodecki will be one of a handful of returning offensive starters in 2025, so look for Vandegrift to be a contender to repeat as state champions.
