Week 11 Austin-area high school football rankings: There’s a new No. 1 in Class 5A

The final week of the Texas high school football season is upon us, and 29 Austin-area teams have already secured their spot in the upcoming playoffs.

As for our second-to-last football rankings, there wasn’t any changes to our Class 6A and small school Top 5s.

However, there was quite the shakeup in our Class 5A rankings – again.

The biggest mover is Georgetown, who leapfrogs Liberty Hill to take the No. 1 spot. The Eagles didn’t just beat a good Lake Belton team, they manhandled them. Both Georgetown and Liberty Hill face big games this week with Cedar Park and Bastrop, respectively.

The other change is the return of Anderson after Pflugerville lost to Bastrop on Friday. The Panthers now find themselves in an elimination game with rival Connally this Friday at The Pfield.


The Trojans also find themselves in an important game with Weiss. The winner will take over third place and get the No. 3 seed from the district.
