Round Rock’s Lexi Ankerstar voted Austin Sports Journal’s Volleyball Player of the Week

There was one clear choice for the Austin Sports Journal’s Volleyball Player of the Week honor, and readers took note.

Round Rock setter Lexi Ankerstar was voted the Austin Sports Journal Austin-area Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 8-14.

With 33.8% of the vote, Aknerstar edged out McCallum’s Lexi Rosenblatt, who took in 24.2% of the vote. Buda Johnson’s Zaniah Hoskins took third with 19.7% of the vote. Vista Ridge’s Jennavee Jenson (18%) and Westlake’s Chloe Kelly (4.3%) were also up for the honor.

Ankerstar had back-to-back triple doubles, including a 10 kill, 17 dig and 24 assist performance on Tuesday in Round Rock’s win over Westwood. In a loss to Vista Ridge, the senior setter put down 16 kills, 14 digs and 31 assists. In both games she had seven service aces.

The Austin Sports Journal allows readers to vote each week for the football and volleyball players of the week throughout the season.
