Prior to Weiss’ season opener with McNeil Thursday, senior quarterback Jax Brown revealed on X he suffered a serious injury last week in the Wolves scrimmage with Waco University and would have season-ending surgery.
Brown was on the cover of the 2024 Austin Sports Journal Football Preview and was selected as the Class 5A preseason player of the year. He was one of the most prolific passers in the Austin area in 2023, throwing for 2,860 yards and 33 touchdowns.
Freshman Jaxon Schad started for the Wolves Thursday nigh in the season opener against McNeil. He lifted the Wolves to a 42-41 win in overtime against the Mavericks.
