ROUND ROCK – Future Texas Longhorn Addison Gaido put down 23 kills, averaging 7.7 kills per set, to will Georgetown to a sweep Tuesday over a resilient, but outmatched, Round Rock team.
The Eagles (11-0) defeated the Dragons 25-14, 25-15, 25-20 at Round Rock High School in front of a packed house in the auxiliary gymnasium. A leak was found under the floor in the main gym, forcing the varsity game to the auxiliary gym.
Playing without standout setter Alexa Ankerstar, Round Rock (9-3) battled but could not match the power of the 6-foot-4 Gaido, who had two less kills by herself than the Dragons did as a team.
Round Rock got a gutsy performance from sophomore Kerrington Thornton, who finished with seven kills and three blocks.
