Tuesday’s regional quarterfinals featured two overtime thrillers and a pair of upsets, while one team from the Greater Austin Metro Area extended their shutout streak to 15-games.

On Monday, Giddings goalkeeper Faith Zoch recorded her 15th consecutive clean sheet as the Lady Buffaloes (20-0-3) defeated Lorena in a Class 4A-Region III quarterfinal. Giddings moves on to play Vidor on Friday in the regional tournament at Legacy Stadium in Katy. The Lady Buffaloes have outscored their playoff opponents 17-0.

In boys action on Tuesday, Vandegrift defeated Bowie 1-0 in overtime to move on to this weekend’s Class 6A-Region IV tournament at the Blossom Center in San Antonio. The Vipers (20-2-2) will play Vindor at 6 p.m. on Friday in a semifinal match.

Glenn (27-0-1) will be the other boys soccer representative in this weekend’s regionals. The Grizzlies defeated San Antonio Pieper 2-0 and will play the winner of Juarez-Lincoln and Corpus Christi Flower Bluff at the Brownsville Sports Park in Brownsville on Friday at 7 pm.

In girls action, seven Austin-area teams, including Giddings, move on to regional tournaments.

Westlake (14-4-2) upset Lake Travis 2-1 Tuesday at Tiger Stadium in Dripping Springs. The Lady Chaps will be joined by Round Rock at Comalander Stadium in San Antonio for the Class 6A-Region IV tournament. The Lady Dragons (18-0-4) defeated Anderson 3-0 at The Pfield in Pflugerville. Westlake will face Harlingen at 11 am. Friday in the first semifinal, while Round Rock will face the winner of San Antonio Brennan and San Antonio Taft at 1 p.m.

In Class 5A, Hendrickson (19-3-2) will join Georgetown in Humble for the Class 5A-Region III tournament. The Lady Hawks upset A&M Consolidated 1-0 at Tiger Stadium in Rockdale. The Lady Eagles beat McCallum in their regional quarterfinal on Tuesday.

The Leander Lady Lions (20-1-4) needed overtime to defeat Liberty Hill Tuesday in Georgetown. Leander will be joined by Rouse at the Brownsville Sports Park for the Class 5A-Region IV tournament. The Lady Raiders (18-4-3) defeated Cedar Park 2-1 at Bible Stadium in Leander in a regional quarterfinal.

Rouse will play McAllen Memorial at 11 a.m. on Friday, while Leander will face McAllen at 1 p.m..
