Meet the 2023-24 On the Sidelines Sports All-Austin Metro Boys Basketball Teams.

Class 6A

First team

Jaxson Vandegarde, Buda Johnson senior guard: โ€“ The first team All-District 26-6A selection, Vandegarde averaged 15 points, 4.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds while shoogint 61% from field goal range. He was the Woodlands Tournament most valuable player ad helped the Jaguars to the second round of the playoffs.

Uzziah Buntyn, Stony Point, junior guard: A first team All-District 25-6A selection, Buntyn helped the Tigers to the Class 6A state championship game and an undefeated district season. The junior averaged 12.2 points and 5.1 assists per game while pulling down 4.2 rebounds a game.

Hudson Greer, Lake Travis, junior forward: The District 26-6A most valuable player helped the Cavaliers reach the Class 6A-IV regional semifinals. One of the Class of 2025โ€™s top basketball recruits, Greer averaged 22.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game.

Sam McKinney, Buda Johnson, senior forward: A first team All-District 26-6A selection, The St. Edwards-bound McKinney helped the Jaguars to a third-place finish. He averaged 16.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game and was 57% from field-goal range. 

Jayden Thomas, Lake Travis, senior center: Thomas, the District 26-6A defensive player of the year helped the Cavaliers to a share of the district championship. He averaged 13.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

Second team

Mark Fletcher, Vandegrift, senior guard: A first team All-District 25-6A pick, Fletcher led the Vipers in scoring with 15.8 points per game. He helped Vandegrift to a second place finish in the district and a 24-9 record overall.

Junior Goodlet, Stony Point, senior guard: The all-district selection helped the Tigers reach the Class 6A state championship game. He averaged 10.9 points, 2.1 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.

Ray Jackson III, Manor, senior guard/forward: Jackson was the Mustangโ€™s leading scorer and a first-team All-District 26-6A selection. He helped Manor reach the postseason and to a 22-11 overall record.

Braeden Spinden, Bowie, senior guard/forward: A first team all-district pick, Spinden helped the Bulldogs to a fourth-place finish in District 26-6A and a trip to the playoffs. He averaged 13 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 33% from behind the three-point line.

Wonder Kahozi, Westlake, senior forward: The St. Edwards -bound forward helped Westlake reach the regional quarterfinals and a share of the district championship. Kahozi was a first team all-district pick that averaged 9.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

Josiah Hollmon, San Marcos, junior guard; Suley Shah, Westwood, senior guard; Mason Wasserburger, Bowie, senior forward/center; Leonard Moore, Round Rock, senior forward; Adrian Mathis, Lake Travis, junior guard; Jaxson Reagan, Dripping Springs, senior guard

Class 5A

First team

Robert Conrad, Cedar Creek, senior guard: An all-district selection, Conrad helped the Eagles to a 25-11 record and a trip to the postseason in a competitive 23-5A. He averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.4 steals per game.

Kai Canfield, Georgetown, senior  guard:โ€“ District 23-5Aโ€™s co-offensive player of the year, Canfield helped the Eagles to the district championship and the second round of the playoffs. Canfield averaged 15.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game and shot 40% from behind the three-point line.

Ryder Bradley, Leander, junior guard: District 25-5Aโ€™s offensive player of the year helped the Lions secure a playoff berth. Bradley averaged 17 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. He scored 26 points in Leanderโ€™s near upset of 5A No. 1 San Antonio Veterans Memorial in the playoffs.

Jo Jo Moore, Rouse, senior guard: The Siena signee was selected as the District 25-5A most valuable player, helping the Raiders reach the regional quarterfinals. Moore averaged 17.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while also dishing out 5.6 assists per game.

Amarie Haywood, Rouse, senior guard/forward: The District 25-5A defensive player of the year helped the Raiders to a district championship and a 29-8 overall record. Haywood averaged 14.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

Second team

Amir Thompson, Hendrickson, senior guard: The District 23-5A defensive player of the year averaged 12.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game while helping the Hawks to a second-place finish in the district and a trip to the playoffs.

Ryan Dupre, Georgetown,  junior guard/forward: A first team all-district selection, Dupre helped the Eagles to a district championship and a postseason berth. He averaged 14.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

George McCoy, McCallum, junior guard/forward: The District 24-5A co-most valuable player helped the Knights win their first outright district championship in more than 20 years. McCoy averaged 12.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game.

KJ Franklin, Cedar Creek, junior forward: Cedar Creekโ€™s big man averaged a double double with 16.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game and helped the Eagles secure a playoff berth

Mekhai Bryant, Connally, junior forward: The first team all-district selection helped the Cougars reach the second round of the playoffs and a third-place finish in district. Bryant was Connallyโ€™s leading scorer, averaging 14.0 points per game. He also pulled down 6.6 rebounds and dished 2.1 assists per game.

Ethan Plummer, McCallum, sopjhomore guard; Chidera Ukachukwu, Hendrickson, junior guard; Devin Brown, Rouse, senior guard; Luke Lande, Liberty Hill, senior guard; Reid Vines, Cedar Park, senior forward

Class 4A-1A

First team

Brecken Proctor, Thrall, senior  guard: A first team All-District 27-2A selection, Proctor afteraged 13.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 40% from the floor. The guard helped the Tigers to their best season in school history and first trip to the state tournament.

Paul Gumbert-Mendoza, Wimberley, sophomore guard: The District 27-4A  offensive player of the year helped the Texans reach the second round of the playoffs. The sophomore averaged 19.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.0 steals per game.

Kaden Kovar, Thorndale, senior guard:  The senior captain foe the Bulldogs was named the District 27-2A co-most valuable player after helping Thorndale to the regional quarterfinals and a district championship. He averaged 16.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 40% from behind the three-point line.

Steven Walker, Thrall, senior guard/forward:  District 27-2Aโ€™s defensive player of the year, Walker helped the Tigers to the Class 2A state semifinals. He averaged 14.2 points and  11.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.7 steals per game.

Nathan Scott, La Grange, senior guard/forward: The District 22 4A most valuable player helped the Leopards win the district championship and reach the postseason. Scott was all-everthing for La Grange, averaging 21.3 points, 8.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

Second team

Jaโ€™Den Stiggers, Manor New Tech, junior guard: An all-district selection, Stiggers averaged 18.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.9 steals per game for the Titans, who placed second in District 22-4A and made the postseason.

Ethan Sharp, Wimberley, senior guard: The senior guard made129 total three-pointers, which was the fifth most in the Class 4A. He averaged 14.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.

Mason Dotson, Jarrell, senior guard: An All-Austin Metro football selection, Dotson excelled on the hardwood and was the District 24-4A most valuable player. He averaged 19 points and 4.1 assists per game.

Braden Pickel, Thorndale, junior forward: The junior was an unanimous District 27-2A first team pick. He helped the Bulldogs to a district championship while averaging 10.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Ethan Dahl, Thrall, senior forward:  A second team All-District 27-2A selection, Dahl helped the Tigers win a school-record 30 games while averaging 10.2 points, 2.3 assists and 8.6 rebounds per game.

Honorable mention

Treos Richardson, Taylor, senior guard; Ben Bliss, Gateway, senior forward; Derrick Leonard, Giddings, senior forward; Trae Herrera, Granger, senior guard
