Thursday night recap
Leander 41, Hendrickson 0: A fumble recovery by Jacob Baillie set up a 14-0 fourth quarter for Leander to lift the Lions (2-6, 1-4 District 11-5A-I) past Hendrickson (3-5, 1-4) at Bible Stadium.
Quarterback Logan Mitchell capitalized on the turnover and tossed a 73-yard touchdown pass to Zane Wooldridge to put Leander within six points with seven minutes left in the game.
On the Hawksโ ensuing possession, Leanderโs Jacob Harris recovered a second Hendickson fumble The Lions drove the ball down to the Hendrickson 5-yard-line when Mitchell found Joseph Marro in the endzone for a touchdown pass to tie the game. Rene Rodriguezโs point after attempt was good to give Leander a 41-40 lead. The Lions held off the Hawks for the remaining five minutes to pull off the upset.
Hendrickson led the game 33-21 at halftime after a 27-point second quarter.
Anderson 49, Del Valle 17: At House Park, the Anderson Trojans scored 35 points in the first half and held on to defeat Del Valle Thursday night.
Quarterback Bradly Gephart had five touchdown passes, including two to Ed Small. Small also had a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter.
The loss officially eliminated Del Valle from playoff contention, while Anderson can still get in by winning its two remaining games, but needs Bowie and Johnson to lose both of their remaining games.
McCallum 38, Navarro 0: Quarterback Luke Dunham threw four touchdown passes and the Knights defense had a pick-6 to defeat Navarro Thursday night at Nelson Stadium.
The win puts the Knights (5-3, 4-1) into a second place tie with Crockett in District 12-5A-I. The loss eliminated the Vikings (2-6, 1-4) from playoff contention.
Crockett 47, Eastside 0: The Crockett Cougars (5-3, 4-1) defeated Eastside Thursday night at Burger Stadium in Austin. No other information was available. The Cougars move into a tie for second place in District 12-5A-I with McCallum. Both teams can clinch a playoff berth next week.
