Roundup: Second half surge lifts Dripping Springs past Bowie in 26-6A

DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Tigers defense made two big stops and got a 65-yard touchdown on a punt return from Kyle Koch to defeat Bowie 42-12 at Tiger Stadium in a District 26-6A game Friday. 

Kotch’s punt return in the third quarter gave Dripping Springs a huge shift in momentum as the Tigers outscored the Bulldogs 35-0 in the second half. Jack Tyndall had two touchdown runs, including one from the TIgers’ 30-yard-line. 


Dripping Springs moves to 3-1, 2-0 District 26-6A, while Bowie drops to 2-3, 2-1. The Tigers travel to Buda to take on Johnson next week. Bowie takes on Austin High at Burger Stadium.

Georgetown 14, A&M Consolidated 10: In College Station, Georgetown (3-2, 1-0 DIstrict 11-5A-I) capitalized on 13 penalties and three turnovers by A&M Consolidated to pick up a win in the Eagles’ district opener. 

Georgetown scored their first touchdown on a 4-play, 45-yard drive after one of those Tiger turnovers. Noah Booras found Cody Holubeck for an 11-yard touchdown to five the Eagles an early 7-0 advantage. 

Down 10-7, Georgetown’s Andrew Petter scored the game winning touchdown on a 4-yard run out of the wildcat offense with 4 minutes left. 

Hendrickson 24, Glenn 3: At The Pfield in Pflugerville, the Hawks defense held Glenn (1-3, 0-1) to 221 yards of offense and forced two turnovers in the District 11-5A-I opener for both teams. Carson Workman and Michael Adnerson rushed for a combined 157 yards and scored a touchdown apiece for Hendrickson (3-1, 1-0). 

Wimberley 41, Lampasas 20: At Texan Stadium in Wimberley, Cody Stoever passed for 217 yards and run for 168 yards and scored 6 total touchdowns Friday to move the Texans to 5-0 at the midpoint of the  season. Noah Birdsong had 7 catches for 84 yards and 2 scores, while Nolan Waida (3 catches, 62 yards) and Ty Thames (3 catches, 4 yards) each had a touchdown.
