Week 4 of the high school football season is in the books, which means it’s time for the latest On the Sidelines rankings heading into the fifth week of the season.
There’s not a lot of movement at the top of the rankings. However, No. 1 Westlake and No. Lake Travis face off Friday at Cavalier Stadium. You may not know it, but there are a few other games we will be keeping our eye on this upcoming weekend.

Here are five things we learned from Week 4 games in Central Texas.
As always, teams are ranked regardless of classification and picked by On the Sidelines Sports Executive Director Michael Adams.
| Rank | Team | Record | Prv. |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Westlake | 3-0 | 1 |
| 2 | Vandegrift | 4-0 | 2 |
| 3 | Lake Travus | 4-0 | 3 |
| 4 | Weiss | 4-0 | 4 |
| 5 | Vista Ridge | 4-0 | 6 |
| 6 | Wimberley | 4-0 | 7 |
| 7 | Manor | 3-1 | 9 |
| 8 | Westwood | 3-1 | 5 |
| 9 | Cedar Park | 3-1 | 8 |
| 10 | Hays | 3-1 | NR |
Notable: The big game this week is Westlake at Lake Travis. Don’t expect two much movement for the loser of this game… Hays, a newcomer to the rankings is sneaky good and off to a 3-1 start. The Hawks picked up a District 12-5A-I win Saturday, defeating San Antonio MacArthur 28-14… Hendrickson (3-1) was open last week, but don’t expect the Hawks to be out of the rankings for long. The Hawks play Glenn (1-2) this Friday in the District 11-5A-I opener. A win should get Hendrickson back in the rankings…
Keep an eye on: Dripping Springs (2-1) blasted Austin High 59-0 in Week 4 and are 2-1. A big District 26-6A matchup against Bowie (2-0) is slated for Friday… Rouse (3-1) is also a team to keep an eye on. The Raiders are open this week before opening District 11-5A-II action on Sept. 29… Bastrop (3-1) got back on the winning track last week with a big win against Pflugerville. The Bears open District 13-5A-II action Friday at Comal Pieper (3-1).
