From staff reports

The Dallas Pulse improved to 4-1 on the season with a straight-sets victory over the Columbus Fury, winning 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 on Thursday night.
Outside hitter Mimi Colyer led Dallas with 12 kills on 35 swings, while Sofia Maldonado Diaz added 10 kills on 23 attempts and served four aces. Middle blocker Lanye Van Buskirk and setter Natalia Valentin-Anderson each finished with 10 kills and three blocks, earning coโplayer of the game honors.
Columbus was led by outside hitter Raina Terry, who recorded a match-high 14 kills on 33 swings. Megan Lush added six kills for the Fury.
Dallas trailed for much of the opening set before closing on a 3-0 run to tie the score at 21-all. The Pulse took control from there, reaching set point at 24-21 following a Columbus error. Colyer ended the set with a kill to give Dallas a 1-0 lead.
The Fury opened the second set with a 4-0 run and held Dallas under 10 points early. A service error by Columbus helped spark a turnaround, and the Pulse seized momentum with an 11-2 run fueled by three Maldonado Diaz aces to take a 22-19 lead. Dallas closed the set after back-to-back Columbus errors, securing the 25-21 win.
The third set was tightly contested early before Dallas created separation midway through the frame. The Pulse hit .417 in the set and controlled play down the stretch to complete the sweep with a 25-19 victory.
โTonight was not a perfect game. At times we struggled to execute from the service line and gave their libero too many passing opportunities,โ said Dallas coach Shannon Winzer. โBut coming back from 10-16 in the second set shows how resilient we are. We stayed focused on what we could control. When we serve well, we control the game, and our blocking continues to frustrate teams.โ
Dallas will close its road trip Saturday with a 6 p.m. match against the Indy Ignite at Fishers Event Center. The Pulse will then return home to host the Omaha Supernovas at 7 p.m ., Thursday at Comerica Center in Frisco.
