The 2025-26 Texas high school girls basketball season is more than a month old, and the depth across all classifications around South Central Texas is already showing.

From unbeaten heavyweights to fast-rising contenders, the Austin Sports Journal’s first set of area rankings offers an early snapshot of which programs have set the tone as district play is getting underway.

Class 6A is led by a flawless Westlake squad that has yet to blink and looks every bit the part of a state championship contender, while Vandegrift and Dripping Springs sit close behind with strong early resumes.

Glenn headlines a competitive Class 5A field, joined by Liberty Hill and Smithson Valley as teams positioning themselves for deep postseason runs.

In Class 4A, La Grange and Salado pace a group that includes Manor New Tech, one of the area’s most impressive early stories.

Small schools (Class 3A-1A and private schools) round out the rankings with plenty of punch, as Flatonia, Mason and the Texas School for the Deaf have all made statements out of the gate.
