The 2025-26 Texas high school boys basketball season is off and running, and the first set of area rankings highlights just how much depth and parity exists across South Central Texas.

Class 6A features a strong top tier led by Bowie, which has surged out of the gate with a 16-1 start, while Westwood, Westlake and Vandegrift are close behind with battle-tested résumés.

In Class 5A, New Braunfels sits at the top of a competitive field that includes Comal Pieper and East View, all positioning themselves as postseason threats as schedules intensify.

Class 4A and the small school ranks bring plenty of intrigue, with Wimberley setting the pace in 4A and St. Michael’s leading a balanced small school group.
