Yoakum overwhelms Llano in rout, advances to Class 3A-I state championship

Yoakum was overwhelming.

The Bulldogs (13-2) sprinted to a 30-6 halftime lead and continued to pull away in the second half, defeating Llano 71-21 at The Pfield in Pflugerville in a Class 3A Division I state semifinal.

Despite nearly 500 yards of offense, Llano couldn’t find an answer for Yoakum athlete Jace Morales. The SMU signee scored four touchdowns and ran for 223 yards.

Llano quarterback Luke Davis put together a notable performance, throwing for 185 yards while Jose Silas ran in three touchdowns.

The victory sends Yoakum to Arlington for the UIL football state championships, while Llano finishes the season with a 13-2 record. The Yellowjackets, who entered the semifinal allowing 14 points or fewer in four of its previous five games, suffered its second loss of the season.

Awaiting Yoakum in the Class 3A Division I state final is Grandview, which improved to 12-2 with a 21-18 win over Peaster. The championship game will be played Dec. 18 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
