Sun Belt suspends players following postgame brawl between Texas State and Louisiana

From staff reports

The Sun Belt Conference announced Monday the suspension of 14 players following a postgame altercation that broke out after Texas State’s loss to Louisiana on Nov. 8.

“There is no place for this type of behavior in college football,” Sun Belt Commissioner Keith Gill said in a statement. “This unfortunate postgame incident overshadowed what was a competitive regional rivalry game on the field. While the spirit of competition is central to what we do in college athletics, postgame actions like these will not be tolerated in the Sun Belt Conference.”

Following a review of video footage, six Texas State players and seven Louisiana players received suspensions.

Texas State: Tymere Jackson (two games), Khamari Terrell, Justin DeLeon, Kyran Bourda, J.P. Deeter and Devarrick Woods (one game each).

Louisiana: Tyree Skipper (remainder of the 2025 season, including any potential bowl game), Courtline Flowers, Kody Jackson, Kailep Edwards, Collin Jacob, Evan Stroman and De’Antonio Lesueur (one game each).

The conference said the matter is now closed and will have no further comment.
