The Weiss Wolves will open the 2025 season with their fourth head coach in program history.
Malcolm Hill, 32, makes his varsity head coaching debut Thursday when the Wolves (8-3 in 2024) host McNeil at The Pfield in Pflugerville. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Hill arrives from Prosper High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where he served as offensive coordinator. Players say his energy has already made an impression.
“I like that he is young, and this is his first time as a head coach,” sophomore wide receiver Jordan Anderson said. “He holds everyone to a high standard. When we came into camp, I had high expectations for Coach Hill, and he delivered. As soon as I stepped on the field, I knew he was going to make us earn everything.”
Hill replaces Vernon Hughes, who led Weiss to a 17-5 record over two seasons before resigning in May to take the head job at Mesquite Horn.
Known for his spread offense, Hill helped Prosper average 41.2 points per game. Prosper finished first or second in District 6-6A during each of his three years calling plays, and he inherits a Wolves roster with plenty of offensive talent.

“This is a great community,” Hill said. “When I got here and met the administration, the players and the parents, I knew this was the right place for me. The kids are eager to learn and want to succeed.”
Weiss returns 13 starters from last year’s bi-district finalist team. That includes sophomore quarterback Jaxon Schad (2,689 yards, 32 touchdowns, six interceptions), running back Nick Johnson (1,049 yards, 13 TDs) and wide receiver Daniel Berry (706 yards, 8 TDs). Schad stepped in as a freshman starter last season after Jax Brown was sidelined with an injury and led the Wolves to the playoffs.
Up front, the offensive line is anchored by Texas Tech commit Jerald Mays, Southern Miss pledge Josh Austin and senior Marques Libby.
Defensively, Weiss brings back seven starters. Linebacker Noah McPeak (77 tackles, two sacks) leads the front, while Incarnate Word commit Jorian Guinn (76 tackles, three interceptions) and Kaiden Haynes (four INTs) headline the secondary.
Weiss finished third in District 12-5A-I last year, with losses only to state powers A&M Consolidated and College Station. Both rematches loom large in 2025, with district trips to A&M Consolidated on Sept. 12 and College Station on Oct. 31.
With 13 returning starters, a dynamic young quarterback and an energetic new head coach, Weiss looks poised to remain a contender in 12-5A-I.
