Gentry Barker โย a MaxPreps All-American and the No. 1 recruit for the Class of 2027 โ is returning home to Austin, as first reported by BigDMedia Saturday afternoon on X.
Barker is leaving Class 5A powerhouse Lucas Lovejoy and will play for Lake Travis this fall.
She grew up in the Austin area and her sister Brinkley also played for Lake Travis, along with stops at Lovejoy and St. Michael’s Prep.
Gentry will be a junior this fall and joins a Lake Travis team that returns four starters and 13 letterman from last year’s team that finished fourth in a super competitive District 26-6A and lost to Round Rock in the first round of the Class 6A Division I playoffs.
As a sophomore at Lucas Lovejoy she had 484 kills and a .297 hitting percentage and was a first team MaxPreps All-American. She also tallied 483 digs to go with 30 blocks and 42 serving aces.
Barker was the Dallas Morning News all-area newcomer of the year as a freshman after helping Lovejoy to the 2023 Class 5A championship against Liberty Hill and being named the championship game’s most valuable player.
She is uncommitted and has interest from several top college beach volleyball programs, along with Texas A&M and Texas indoor teams, according to PrepDig.
