Six girls golf teams from the Austin area will challenge for state titles Monday and Tuesday as the 2025 UIL girls golf state tournament gets underway.

Vandegrift will attempt a three-peat in the Class 6A tournament, but will have familiar rivals on their heels in Westlake and Lake Travis. The Chaparrals finished sixth last year, while the Cavaliers are making their return to the state tournament after missing the cut in 2024.

Both lake Travis and Westlake are making their 21st appearance in the girls golf state tournament. Both teams have won four state championships apiece with the Chaps’ last title being in 2019 and the Cavs’ last winning in 2017.

Vandegrift is making its ninth appearance in the state tournament and aiming for its third championship.

In Class 5A, Pieper is making its first appearance at the state tournament. The Warriors beat out last year’s 5A state champion — Smithson Valley — in the Region IV tournament to qualify.

Davenport is making its fifth-straight appearance in the Class 4A tournament. The Wolves finished third last year behind Andrews and Seminole. The storied Andrews girls golf program has won back-to-back state championships and has won 19 total, the most in UIL history.

Salado is another storied program playing in the Class 4A tournament. The Eagles are making their fourth straight appearance and 25th overall. Salado has won six state titles, but hasn’t won one since 2013 in Class 2A.
