Austin-area boys soccer rankings (3/6): Northeast and Glenn retake top spots in weekly polls

The Texas high school soccer regular season is entering the home stretch. There are 20 teams from the Austin metropolitan area that have already secured their spot in the 2025 UIL soccer playoffs. Several others will join them in the coming days.

The 2025 postseason will have a different look than in previous years.

Four teams from each district will make the playoffs, but those teams will be split into two divisions for each classification, just like in Class 6A football. The two teams with the highest enrollment will be in the Division I bracket, while the two with the smallest enrollment will be in Division II.

Also new for the upcoming playoffs is that state semifinal games will take place at neutral sites instead of at Georgetownโ€™s Birkelbach Stadium, the longtime home of the UIL soccer state tournament. Only championship games will be played in Georgetown from April 10-12.

District 26-6A has arguably the most exciting playoff race over the next week.

Lake Travis (12-4-1) has clinched the district championship and a playoff spot. Bowie has also stamped its ticket to the postseason. Del Valle, Dripping Springs, and Westlake are in the running for the remaining two spots. The three teams are tied with 17 points for third place.

This race will get clarity over the next five days. The Chaps play the Cardinals Friday night at home and will travel to Dripping Springs Tuesday for the regular season finale. Bowie ends its regular season Friday at home against Austin High

This weekโ€™s rankings

The Austin Sports Journalโ€™s rankings are determined each week by information reported on MaxPreps. The ASJ uses overall records and strength of schedule to rank teams for each classification. Private schools are considered for the 4A & others top five. This is the next to last weekly rankings for the soccer season. Next week will be the ASJโ€™s final rankings until after the playoffs.
