ROUND ROCK โ The St. Michael’s Prep Academy girls soccer team ran into a buzzsaw Tuesday at the TAPPS girls soccer state tournament.
The Warriors (15-7) dropped a 4-0 decision to Houston St. Agnes in a TAPPS Division I semifinal on a windy morning at the Round Rock Multipurpose Spots Complex.
St. Agnes built a quick 2-0 lead and added a late goal in the first half to carry a 3-0 lead into the break. The Tigers limited St. Michel’s offensive opportunities and held the Warriors to just two shots on goal in the first half.
St. Agnes added another goal midway through the second half to advance to Thursday’s championship game. The Tigers will face the winner of Dallas Bishop Lynch and Dallas Ursuline Academy at 9:30 a.m. in the Division I state championship game.
St. Michael’s girls soccer team was the second Warriors team competing for a state championship at the state level. The Warriors basketball team won the TAPPS Class 6A state championship on Saturday. Several members of the team was in attendance Tuesday to cheer on the soccer team.
