In the end, the Rattlers had more bite than the Vipers.

The San Marcos Lady Rattlers outscored Vandegrift 13-8 in the fourth quarter to pull away to a 49-46 victory on Tuesday in a Class 6A Division II regional semifinal.

The win propels the Laldy Rattlers back to the regional finals for the first time since 1992, the same year of their last state championship.

Led by a vicious charge from juniors Melayna Perkins and Aylecia Pierson and senior Ezra Robias, San Marcos was able to overcome trailing at halftime.

San Marcos moves on to the 6A-II Region IV finals to face San Antonio Churchill, who upset the Rattlers’ District 29-6A rival, No. 1 Converse Judson, Tuesday night. You can find playoff scores, parings and game times for all Austin-area girls basketball teams here.
