Women’s soccer area rankings (1/30): Rouse holds strong in 5A at No. 1, Wimberley makes leap in 4A & others

Austin Sports Journal

Lake Travis, Rouse and Wimberley top the first Austin Sports Journal weekly soccer rankings for the 2025 season.

The Cavaliers swapped places with Westwood our Class 6A poll from the preseason rankings, while Rouse maintained its hold on the No. 1 spot in 5A. Wimberley, which was No. 5 in our preseason 4A & others rankings, jumped all the way to No. 1 with an impressive 11-1-1 start.

There are a few newcomers that weren’t on our radar in the preseason but caught our attention. Vandegrift moves into the No. 5 spot in Class 6A, while Liberty Hill takes over the No. 5 spot in 5A. Burnet and Lago Vista are off to great starts to the season and moved into the 4A& below rankings.

Rankings are determined each week by information reported on MaxPreps. The ASJ uses overall records and strength of schedule to rank teams for each classification. Private schools are considered for the 4A & others top five.
