LIBERTY HILL – Glenn continues to be the Liberty Hill Panthers women’s basketball team’s kryptonite.

The Grizzlies picked up their sixth-straight win over the Panthers with a 51-39 victory Friday at the Panther Den at Liberty Hill High School in a Class 5A top 10 matchup.

University of Miami signee Soma Okolo led the Grizzlies with 19 points, while sophomore Ariel Goppy added 17 and Marrissa Hernandez had 12 from four three-point field goals.

Glenn killed Liberty Hill from behind the three-point arch, making 11 total.

Liberty Hill was led by junior Renee Stemmons, who scored a team-high 12 points. Senior guard Gabby Mundy added 11 points.

The win moves Glenn (30-3, 10-1 District 25-5A) into sole possession of first place in the “District of Doom” with the tiebreaker over Liberty Hill, which drops to 29-3 overall and 9-2 in 25-5A.

The caveat is Cedar Park (23-6, 9-2).

The Timberwolves defeated Glenn on Jan. 7 in the first meeting. The teams meet again next Friday at the Wolf Den in Cedar Park. A win would move Cedar Park into the driver’s seat, needing a win at Liberty Hill on Feb. 4 to clinch the district title.

For Glenn, the Grizzlies would just need to beat Cedar Park and they will be district champions.

All four playoff spots are determined for District 25-5A as Glenn and Hays will be in the Class 5A Division I bracket and Liberty Hill and Cedar Park will be in the Division II bracket.
