The Cavaliers are the hottest team in District 26-6A, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Lake Travis (13-16, 4-3 District 26-6A) won its fourth straight Wednesday, defeating Del Valle in dominant fashion, 82-53. Senior guard Joshua Kline led the Cavs with 16 points, while senior Adrian Mathis put in 14 points that included two monstrous dunks.
The win puts Lake Travis into a three-way tie with Bowie and Dripping Springs for second place in 26-6A. This comes after the Cavaliers started district play 0-3, which included losses to Del Valle, Dripping Springs and Westlake. Lake Travis can avenge the loss to the Tigers Friday at Dripping Springs. Dripping Springs lost to Bowie Wednesday, creating the three-way tie.
For Del Valle (15-13, 3-4), the Cardinals move one game behind in the playoff race. Del Valle is off Friday and will return home on Tuesday to host Dripping Springs in a pivotal game to keep its playoff hopes alive. Robert Davis led the Cardinals Wednesday against Lake Travis with a game-high 19 points.
