If you need any more proof that District 25-5A is the ‘District of Doom,” look no further than the chaos that ensued last week.

Cedar Park, ranked 10th in Class 5A by MaxPreps, beat No. 7 Glenn 47-37 Tuesday in a rematch from last year’s regional final. The Timberwolves then lost to No. 2 Liberty Hill by one point on Friday. And least we do not forget, Glenn beat Liberty Hill on Dec. 20 with a buzzer-beating field goal by sophomore Libby Lee.

Get your popcorn ready because the second half of district play is going to be prime cinema. Liberty Hill gets both Glenn (Jan. 24) and Cedar Park (Feb. 4) at home, while the Timberwolves host the Grizzlies on Jan. 31.

In other news, Round Rock closed out the first round of District 25-6A by knocking off Vandegrift on Friday. The Dragons are in second place and get a chance Tuesday at redeeming their 77-38 loss to Vista Ridge to open the second round of district action.

Manor New Tech suffered its second loss on Friday as Lago Vista defeated the Titans 37-25. Jarrell takes over the top spot in our small school rankings, followed by Hyde Park.
